Enjoying the villa life
If the idea of a totally relaxed, indulgent and expansive holiday style sounds like your recipe for vacation perfection, then our Villa selection should be the ideal match for your next Florida visit.
The Romans may have invented the villa concept several thousand years ago, but the Sunshine State has truly picked the idea up and run with it in recent decades, producing a fantastic array of accommodation choice that is perfectly suited to a week or more in this sub-tropical holiday haven.
In simple terms, villas come in both Homes and Resort versions, either of which will provide all the space, style and convenience you could possibly want for a week, a fortnight or even longer.
Villa Homes are the ultimate in individual and family holiday indulgence, providing a 3, 4, 5 or even 6-bed executive-type private home that comes with every mod con – from full kitchens with coffee-makers and blenders to washer-dryers – as well as their own swimming pool in most instances. Some include Jacuzzi tubs and games rooms, while others have outdoor barbecue grills and home theatre systems. More than anything else, they provide masses of space to spread out, as compared to a typical hotel room, and they also make for a blissful private retreat after a busy day at the theme parks or the beach.
Villa Resorts are the more refined version of the two types, as these are a cross between an out-and-out private home and a resort with more facilities. Instead of individual accommodations, the Resort variety features 1-to-4-bedroom apartment-style units in low-rise blocks that are grouped around communal facilities such as a large pool, Jacuzzis, sports facilities, restaurants and bars. This is almost a cross between a traditional villa and a hotel, but it still provides ultra-spacious accommodations and the same elite level of self-catering, with fully-equipped kitchens and washer-dryers. The one thing you probably won’t find is your own swimming pool, as with the villa Homes, but, if you’re happy with the communal pool, it’s a great way to stay.
In many cases, these villas and resort developments are only a year or two old and are immaculately maintained, giving you the impression you are walking into your own brand new home or luxury apartment. They are all furnished to a high specification, including WiFi, and they boast a sense of refinement and spaciousness that comes as a breath of fresh air compared to most European accommodation types. In short, these are some of the most sophisticated and enjoyable places to stay anywhere in the USA. And, with Disney and Co. being such a busy and frenzied experience, coming ‘home’ to your own villa is the perfect antidote to theme park overload.
As a bonus, you get to try out the local supermarkets; make friends with the locals; experience another facet of Florida; take things at a more relaxed pace; AND go home with clean clothes from that invaluable washer-dryer. Just beware – once you’ve sampled Villa life in the Sunshine State, you may never want to stay in a hotel again!
