Find an Old Florida vibe in Treasure Island or Pass-A-Grille, or get active at family-friendly Fort De Soto. There’s no place quite like the pristine beaches of Honeymoon and Caladesi Islands – completely undeveloped barrier islands where you’re guaranteed a blissful break.
The whole area is also well stocked with delectable dining and beachfront bars (notably in the totally laid-back Pass A Grille area), plus the chance to sample coastal parks like beautiful Fort De Soto and take an eco-tour of the intracoastal waterway – dolphins and all – with Dolphin Landings.
For a change from the beach, head back to the city of St. Petersburg and you have a cultural treasure trove to explore. Here you will find the world-famous Dali Museum, featuring the largest collection of the artist’s work outside of Spain, as well as more than 70 incredible street murals, which adorn the buildings around Central Avenue. Another fantastic stop is The Chihuly Collection at the Morean Arts Center. Get lost in a swirl of glass sculptures before heading to the Morean Glass Studio and Hotshop to see resident artists creating glass art right in front of your eyes. Don’t miss a Tampa Bay Rays baseball game, some of the unique dining and craft beer gastropubs, plus the historic pink 1925 landmark of the Vinoy Renaissance Resort.
