Amelia Island is a destination loved by outdoor adventurers and nature lovers alike. Paddle along calm coastal waters on a kayaking or canoeing adventure, parasail high above the breath-taking landscape, or charter a fishing cruise and enjoy a leisurely day casting a line. Visitors can also enjoy hiking, camping, bike riding and scuba diving adventures nearby. Known as the “Isle of Eight Flags”, Amelia Island, Florida is a pristine outdoor playground where 13 miles of beachside solitude meet swaying sea oats, sand dunes and lush marine forests.

Visitors will discover Amelia Island’s fascinating history, heritage and myriad outdoor offerings. Just 10 minutes south of Amelia Island, you can discover centuries-old Kingsley Plantation, part of the National Park Service’s Timucuan preserve and set on the river amid a lush forest of live oaks. It is one of the few remaining examples of the plantation system of territorial Florida and the site of what might be the state’s oldest plantation house. Visitors can explore the plantation house, remains of 25 tabby construction slave quarters, a barn, waterfront, kitchen building, and interpretive garden. Segway and customized walking tours are available.
